I have to report my experience so far with resveratrol. I love it. Since receiving the new Relentless Improvement resveratrol last week I started taking 4 capsules daily and increasing the past several days to 6 daily (all in one morning dose).

Effects? Energy. Stamina. Sense of well being.

Ill effects? None. No gastrointestinal effects at all. Low emodin content is key to not only tolerating, but enjoying a high dose resveratrol regimen.

Several studies seem to indicate that an effective dose in humans may be as much (or more than) as 500 mg per 50 lbs of body weight. As the science is continually evolving, this may change.

While a high dose, high purity resveratrol lifestyle is not inexpensive, the science so far is very intriguing. Resveratrol may be closest material we have yet for healthy life-extension in a pill.

Elixir of Youth, In A Pill? Resveratrol May Be It.

Nice article in the New York Times about David Sinclair and Sirtris Pharmaceuticals work with High Potency Resveratrol:

"a molecular compound called resveratrol, found in red wine and other plant products, extends the life span of mice by as much as 24 percent and the life span of other animals, such as flies and fish, by as much as 59 percent."

"Resveratrol may therefore be mimicking caloric restriction without an arduous diet that few people can maintain for very long."

"In any case, he says, mice have consumed as much as 400 milligrams of resveratrol per kilogram of body weight without ill effect. On the contrary, the rodents became sleek, slim and powerfully athletic. (A human would have to drink 10,000 bottles of wine a day to consume the same quantity of resveratrol.)"

Most Polygonum cuspidatum extract supplements, which provide resveratrol, currently on the market are very low dose and contain huge amounts of an impurity called "emodin" which causes a pronounced laxative and flatulence effect. Ugh.

Relentless Improvement brand Resveratrol is based on a very pure 98% extract, and offers 300mg per capsule, with very low emodin content.

Diabetes and Lipoic Acid

The latest issue of New Scientist reports in this story that "One of the nasty tricks that diabetes has up its sleeve is the ability to carry on harming people long after they have got the level of glucose in their blood under control. Now researchers think they may be able to stop this, using cheap available drugs"

"The clue came from lab experiments in which they took damaged cells that had been previously exposed to high levels of glucose, and showed that the reactive molecules could be neutralized by exposing the cells to antioxidants such as alpha-lipoic acid (Diabetologia, DOI: 10.1007/s00125-007-0684-2)."

Relentless Improvement high-quality supplements offers the most diverse and potent selection of lipoic acid supplements anywhere in the world. These are in stock, and ship same day.
